Clinical Microbiology: Isolation, identification & characterization of various pathogenic microorganisms by microscopy, biochemical, serological and molecular methods. Molecular mechanism involved in the development of multi-drug resistance among potent pathogens, and epidemiology of nosocomial infections.
General Microbiology: Isolation and identification of microorganisms from environment and food specimens. Microbiological analysis of water. In vitro antimicrobial susceptibility testing (disk diffusion and MIC), In vitro antifungal susceptibility testing, In vivo antimicrobial testing in animals. Bio assay techniques, viral egg inoculation methods and animal handling.
Immunology: Agglutination and precipitation reactions, Enzyme immunoassay, serum electrophoresis, ELISA, counter current electrophoresis and immune diffusion methods.
Biochemistry techniques: Chromatographic Techniques- Column Chromatography and HPLC, purification of proteins, estimation of proteins, DNA, SDS-PAGE, western blot and flowcytometry.
Molecular Biology techniques: Isolation genomic/plasmid DNA, Expression of plasmid, Cloning, PCR, RT-PCR, RFLP and RAPD.
Bioinformatics: Basic bioinformatics (Databases, BLAST search etc.), PCR primer desining.
