Degrees

I have my Masters in Degree in Social Work with a Specialization in Children and Families. My undergraduate degree is in History with minors in Psychology, Sociology and Social Work. I am also a Certified Masters Social Worker in the state of North Carolina. This means I've successfully passed the State Social Work Board test to meet this requirement.

My Expert Service

Hi! I'm Amanda. I have worked as a social worker since 2005 both in the field of dialysis and child abuse and neglect. I am knowledgeable about North Carolina state policy regarding the investigating and assessing allegations of child abuse and neglect. If you have questions about what constitutes abuse or neglect, or what happens when you've had a report made on you, I'd be happy to speak with you about this. I also have knowledge regarding parenting techniques and child development. I have worked with families raising difficult teenagers to difficult toddlers. I have helped family develop behavior modification plans and have helped developed boundaries and rules for their teenagers. In raising children, there are several very important details. One of those is the decision to give your children clear boundaries about what you expect from them and the consequence of not following those expectations. It's important to set those expectations early and to understand the best approach to behavior modification is a multiple approach. As children go through their stages, different techniques will work best. There are more ways to discipline your children, other than physical discipline. If you are in the field of child abuse and neglect, it's a difficult field and few understand what you deal with. Dealing with these issues are intense and often we just need someone to listen. As a woman and a social worker, I've learned about relationships first hand. We get wrapped up in emotions and image that we forget to trust ourselves and put ourselves first. I have also worked with individuals who have lived through Domestic Violence and/or who are going through relationship problems. I am knowledgeable about the signs of domestic violence and the patterns and behaviors of an abuser. If you have questions about this, please ask.
