I am currently a special education teacher in New York State. In working with students with disabilities, it is imperative to have an extensive knowledge of behavior management, modification of curriculum, and positive management of students in the classroom. Outside of the school day, it is also extremely important to be knowledgeable in the legal issues surrounding special education. These issues and topics include understanding IEP's, 504's and other documents, CSE meetings, IST meetings, hearings, knowing your rights and knowing what you should expect. I can help families understand the process of special education and the law behind it, guide you through this process and also help research resources in your area that will help actively advocate for you and your child. In addition to the above, I am also extensively trained in Reading and Literacy. I am fully trained in Lindamood-Bell Reading Systems, Leveled Literacy Interventions, as well as Wilson Reading Systems (Fundations). I am confident that my qualifications, enthusiasm, and flexibility in working with professionals and parents, would fit the needs of your questions!
