There is a huge difference between having an agent sell your home and you selling it on your own. Most people don't understand this and therefore FSBO's (For Sale By Owner's) usually fail. I'll tell you what the differences are. Hiring the guy that mailed you a refrigerator magnet or the nice woman with a great smile may not be the best choice when it comes to picking an agent. My mother jokes that I may have been born during an Open House on one of her listings. I was born into real estate. My mother was a real estate agent since the early 70's. My father was in development. I worked as a Title Insurance Rep for 4 years, Escrow Rep 1 year, National Marketing Director for a nationwide Mortgage company for 2 years, Loan Officer 4 years, and I've been selling real estate since 1997.
