Been practicing Reiki/Shambhalla since 1999, received level two on 2000 and finished my Master program this past summer. Many people are under the impression that Reiki is a system to cure people standing in and by itself. Well yes and no- When we get dieseases, they start inside our emotional beings and spread to the physical world. Doctors treat the physical ailments, Reiki practitioners treat the wounds we create in our conscioussness in our lives. As we heal ourselves inside, we affect our physical reality as well. When having your chakras balanced and receiving Reiki energy, it gives you the opportunity to look at areas of our lives which are in conflict and then deal with them. Sometimes physical healing occurs instantly, but not often. Reiki balances your energy so your body can heal itself. The point is to learn how to balance your energy and learn to heal yourself. I can do the initialtreatment and clearing, and give advice how to do this for yourself, and from time to time give additional treatments, sort of like a tune up; however, it is your responsibility to take control and responsibility of your life and make positive interatctions for change, rather than expecting someone else to do the work for you. This can be done in person or wherever you are on the planet, I do not need to be in you physical presence.
