Experience & Qualifications

I have bartended for 13 years; I started out in a "gentlemen's club" (and yes, I really was bartending) where I learned how to watch and read people. I learned the basics here. I then went on to work in restaurants of all kinds, such as family places with an active bar crowd after dinner. I've worked in many places, seen many happy hours, and known many "regulars." I've also worked in fine dining where I've learned about wines, etiquette, and how to read different people. I've learned about and tasted the food in each place I worked, how that particular restaurant and bar works, what each person's function is, how we all work together as a team or it doesn't work at all. I've helped out in other areas besides the bar; I've rolled silverware, waited tables, washed dishes, done light kitchen prep, and delivery driving. I've worked with and without a barback, stocking all of my own ice, beer, and liquor, running down and back up a flight of stairs to restock an empty bar that is four-deep on a Saturday night during winter break with college kids screaming their drink orders at me from all directions. I have honed a very strong work ethic that I carry over into every aspect of my life. I love to continue to learn about anything and everything, I've learned from managers, owners, other bartenders, and customers whether it be a drink recipe or how to describe a wine.
