The purpose of which is to increase efficiency thereby reducing unnecessary costs in meeting the main objective which is profit. Furthermore, I can also assist in the preparation of project studies concerning a particular case for whatever purpose it may serve.

Experience & Qualifications

I finished my Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business at the University of the Philippines at Los Baños in 1983. My special project in obtaining the degree was entitled “Bignay Winery: A Case Study.” This was a family enterprise whereby the production was just like an extended kitchen activity. The problems and potentials were thoroughly discussed and evaluated in making its recommendation for the improvement of the business venture. While in high school, I was helping in the family farm in Cadiz City, Philippines in 1977 during my free days. After graduating from college in 1983, I started taking over the management of the farm on the next year which was producing sugarcane, rice, corn, hogs, broiler chickens and milkfish. Aside from managing the operations, I was the one doing the technical assessments and computations of the fertilizer requirements of the crops depending on the kind of soil, adjustments in cultural practices as influenced by the weather conditions, feed formulation of the livestock and its care. In 1985, I was elected as a Director for 2 terms in the University of the Philippines at Los Baños Alumni Association of the Negros Occidental Chapter where we were promoting the advancement of recent developments in agricultural technology that are applicable in the locality. This was mostly done through seminars. It was also at this time where I had a chance to attend the International Management Seminar conducted by the Pacific Basin Economic Council in Taipei, Republic of China. The discussion focused on trade and the influence of different cultures in management and decision making of a company. We also toured the different agribusiness projects, systems and cooperatives in the island. In order to practice vertical integration, I put up a small agri-livestock store in Cadiz City in 1987. Its purpose was also to augment the cash flow since farming takes a longer time before profit could be realized. This was later closed and replaced with a small scale meat processing where the pork produced in the farm was the basic raw material. Since this was a kitchen affair, it was more manageable and had lesser inventory of items. On the same year, I was chosen as Chairman of the Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Council of Negros Occidental. This served as a policy formulating and a feedback group for the Department of Agriculture composed of private and government entities. Problems and Issues concerning the agriculture industry were addressed and incorporated in the plans up to the national level. In the Poultry and Livestock Association, we were addressing the concerns of the raisers especially with the sourcing of inputs and pooled marketing of the animals. Our main annual event is the Poultry and Livestock Fair participated by raisers, feeds and veterinary companies and other exhibitors in the field. Likewise, the Philippine Society of Animal Science was a forum for presentation and discussion of recent research studies conducted in locally. On the other hand, the Victorias-Manapla-Cadiz Farmer’s Association took care of the services of the sugarcane farmers in the Victorias Milling District such the problems with the mill, policies affecting the industry, socio-economic programs for the workers and the Research and Development. As Chairman of the Research and Development Committee, I was tasked to package a technology in sugarcane growing for the benefit of the farmers. We also conducted field trials on sugarcane with different types of soil in the district. Incidentally, its cooperative counterpart does the business of providing inputs at the lowest possible price and markets the sugar and molasses at the highest possible prices. Among its activities are the production of organic fertilizer, selling of all the needs for the farm and sourcing of equipment. Likewise, the Isepi Multi-purpose Cooperative has the same basic function but still small and operati
