Computer Repair Technician:
Schedule work to be completed by contacting Principals, department heads, teachers and others so educational priorities and processes will be minimally interrupted.
Maintain, adjust, upgrade, service and repair microcomputers, networks, terminals and peripherals; facsimile machine; clean and adjust disk drives; lubricate mechanical drive components; replace cords, broken keys on keyboards, ram chips and disk drive controller cards and other parts.
Install cables necessary for computer operating systems, networks and microcomputers throughout the District; set up, configure and maintain local area networks; configure computer labs; format hard drives and troubleshoot applications software.
Utilize a variety of electronic test equipment and diagnostic software to determine defects and malfunctions; replace defective components and wiring using a variety of hand tools and equipment.
Maintain, adjust, service and repair monitors, digital cameras and other audio-visual equipment for use with computers.
Schedule and perform preventive maintenance on computers and ancillary equipment.
Consult with vendors regarding timely and cost-efficient completion of District projects.
Coordinate efforts of outside vendors and District personnel to reach desired standardization of equipment constituting more effective routines.
Research product prices and availability; requisition and maintain an adequate supply of parts and repair materials; maintain records of work performed and repair history of individual pieces of equipment.
Prioritize emergency calls determining safety hazards and methods and procedures for their correction.
Drive a District vehicle to and from work sites; operate a variety of equipment, meters and hand tools used in the diagnosis and repair of computer equipment.
