Experience & Qualifications

Brian began life in upstate New York and received a BA degree in mathematics and sociology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He first worked for Marsh & McLennan in Buffalo as an actuary. He and his family then moved to Washington, DC where he worked for the Martin E. Segal Company to be an Actuary and Consultant for international labor organization health and retirement plans.
At the Miller Brewing Company in Milwaukee where he was the Corporate Director of Personnel.
Then in 1977 he moved to California to begin his first start-up, Brian R. Demsey + Associates. That provider of actuarial services to small and medium size companies was acquired by Towers Perrin.
After a 2 year sojourn with Ernst and Young, as the Regional Partner for the Actuarial, Benefits and Compensation practice, Brian left to create RemoteNet Corporation, a technology company which builds benefits portals and network management tools
Two years ago he teamed with Lou Filliger to form Demsey Filliger & Associates, LLC.DF&A is a provider of actuarial and related services to a broad range of clients, with an emphasis on public sector retiree medical and pension valuations.
Brian has three children, all graduates of California universities, and 2 grandchildren.
He is a former board member of the Beckman Laser Institute, Capistrano Unified School District and Childrens Hospital at Mission.
Beyond his family and business life, Brian has completed more than 20 marathons, competes regularly in paddling events (outrigger canoes, surfskis and dragon boats), and swims with a group of friends in the Pacific. Just to prove how nuts he can be, he recently began to kiteboard
