Experience & Qualifications

In November 2001, the pastor of a small Baptist congregation shared the plan of salvation with me. The evidence he presented convinced me of my need of Jesus. I gave my life to Jesus and I was baptized by immersion. When God saved me, He changed my life. He changed my desires and gradually revealed to me His purpose for my existence. In October 2004, I received God’s direction to preach. God’s revelation of His vision for me is indeed a moment unparalleled in my life. I felt as if I was viewing all my previous life anew as God’s custom-tailored preparation to call me to be an under-shepherd of His People. The experiences of my life that seemed so haphazard and random a moment earlier seemed to line up arrow straight. I cried, overwhelmed with joy!
I promised God that I would always be faithful and preach His Word whenever He gave me opportunity. The next morning I told my wife about this amazing experience. She was immediately overjoyed and has ever since been my most enthusiastic supporter. In November 2004, my home church voted to license me to preach. Since that time I have received and accepted many invitations to “supply preach”. I also remain active in outreach for His church and in local mission opportunities. In April 2005, in prayer and reflection God led me to apply to Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. My wife blessed my decision with her complete agreement. Our families, our church, and our association have encouraged us as we have taken this step forward in faith.
