My Expert Service
I believe my extensive experience (below) enables me to assist anyone who hopes to be published professionally. Although I have taught fiction writing courses at UCLA Extension (Los Angeles) and The New School for Social Research (New York) I prefer to focus on nonfiction at this time. My writing experience ranges from long feature articles (up to 10,000 words) to local journalism and book reviews. The Washington Post once described me as "the best living science journalist." However, I have also written many profiles of public figures, ranging from Kurt Vonnegut to corporate CEOs such as Ted Waitt of Gateway Computer.

I have more than thirty years' experience as a writer and editor. My work has appeared in The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Post, Harper's, and many other publications. From issue 2 of Wired magazine, I was the most prolific contributor of features during a five-year period. (Archived at www.wired.com/wired/coverbrowser; search charles platt.) Most recently I originated the Upload section of Make magazine. I am the author of more than 40 published books.
