Our children can challenge us in many different ways. Some children sail through their early years only to become rebellious and confrontational as adolescents. Others seem to be unhappy babies, difficult to soothe and later grow to become very self contained and mature.
I have over 20 years working with very young children and their families. I know first-hand how difficult the transition to parenthood can be. I have owned a preschool, taught music and baby sign language, parented my own child, and undertaken extensive training in family therapies and early childhood development.
I am an empathic listener that will work with you to help you understand your parenting needs, as well as your children's needs. Jung said that the greatest burden we leave our children is the unlived life of their parent. I take this to heart when working with parents because so many times progress comes about when the parent is able to acknowledge their own needs and find ways to have them met outside of their relationship with their children. Not easy, I know. That's why I'm here.
There is new research becoming available on attachment styles, genetic predispositions, temperaments, neurobiology, and infant mental health every day! The sheer volumes of information is overwhelming and impossible for parents to separate out. You can count on me to have the latest information at my disposal and available to you to help us both understand your specific child better. They are indeed each unique little creatures.
You are the expert in parenting your children. I am just here to help you gain some objective distance and perspective. Once parents have a chance to vent, debrief, gather feedback, and step back -- most issues resolve themselves.
If you're a parent that loves your children but just needs a little extra support or guidance, I can help.
