I provide Unemployment Compensation Consulting services with regard to the development of human resource policies / procedures, disciplinary counseling - fact finding / incident documentation, issues of possible ineligibility and disqualification, and the appeals process.

Experience & Qualifications

I am a certified trainer and have 10 years experience teaching Human Resource Management, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution, as well as Management and Leadership courses for Cornerstone University.
I am also a former employee of the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency and have over 20+ years of of Unemployment Agency experience. Since 2003, I have provided unemployment compensation consulting, management, and hearing representation services to businesses of all sizes. Prior to 2003, I held various positions within the Unemployment Agency including; Fraud Investigator, Branch Manager, Claims Supervisor, Claims Examiner, and Claims Worker.
The aforemention job classifications required the performance of the following job duties and responsibilities:
• Researched and determined whether individuals or businesses fraudulently obtained entitlement program funds administered by a state bureau of workers’ and unemployment compensation. Identified and initiated the appropriate criminal, civil, and administrative actions required to resolve the fraud allegations and recover program funds. Provided recommendations to mitigate fraud vulnerabilities related to program law, regulations, policy, and procedure.
• Interpreted and communicated unemployment insurance laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to staff, employers, claimants, other agencies, government entities/officials, and the general public.
• Interviewed claimants and documented statements related to controversial issues that arose in connection with the payment of unemployment insurance benefits. Analyzed factual information from all parties regarding the disputed issue and wrote impartial determinations in accordance with the MES Act.
• Assisted claimants in filing new and additional claims. Reviewed claims for accuracy and completion. Properly identified issues of possible ineligibility and disqualification for referral to the unemployment claims examiner. Input data regarding claims, wages, and other pertinent information.
