Experience & Qualifications
|
My experiences include successful engagements in the computer based scientific instrument industry: sales and marketing management, product development, R&D management, product and software life cycle management, engineering management, organizational development and building new businesses. I am a hands-on person who is quite comfortable getting into all details of a job, or developing the big picture. I am well versed in traditional marketing as well as guerrilla tactics.
I built and managed several sales and service organizations and dealer distribution networks in the US, Europe and Far East. I have spent considerable time in Japan, Singapore and Australia performing market analysis, sales support and maintaining customer relations.
While employed with Perkin Elmer (PE Applied BioSystems), I managed a business unit where over 80% of our sales were to pharmaceutical companies. The instruments were used in drug discovery, development, bioavailability studies, protein sequencing, determining the MW of proteins and nucleotides and clinical trials. I am quite familiar with the process of drug development, characterization of proteins, peptides, oligonucleotides and small molecules and the use of chromatography and mass spectrometry in those application areas.
While with TopoMetrix I managed sales, service and marketing of scanning probe and atomic force microscopes. I am very familiar with use SPM in the biomedical, life science semiconductor and computer industries.
In my career I have hired and trained many people: sales engineers, service engineers, chemists, programmers, secretarial help and others. I have authored HR manuals, administered performance reviews and designed commission plans.
I selected trade shows to attend, developed brochures, data sheets and other collateral material to support the launch of new products. I have written ad copy as well as technical material.
Although not a programmer, I am quite familiar with software development and managing software development, and have extensive experience with both Intel based personal computers and Macintosh. I have advanced experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Act! and desktop publishing and technical writing.
I currently work as a consultant. I have worked with clients to divest and acquire products, expand markets, sell company assets and develop marketing programs. At this time I would like to join a company that offers a fast paced working environment and growth opportunities
