Tamara Ann Follett has 38+ years experience in all aspects of the canine world from Animal Rescue to Conformation Handling, including: Agility, Obedience, Protection Sports, Tracking, Herding, Dog-Sledding, Search & Rescue, Breeding, Whelping, Early (Neonate) Socialization, Dog Training, Behavior Modification, Rehabilitation, and Public Education.
Ms. Follett has authored two books on dogs, "Dogs of Fury: The Solution to Vicious Dogs", and "Caucasian Ovcharka: The Complete Resource on This Ancient and Mysterious Guardian", which is considered the preeminent compendium of the breed. Her dogs have appeared on the National Geographic special, "Designer Dogs", and she serves as the President and Breed Warden for the parent club, the United States Caucasian Ovcharka Preservation Society (US-COPS).
Her kennel, ThunderHawk Caucasians, has been the top breeder of Caucasians in North America since 1996 under two different accounting methods and has made Breed History four times. Ms. Follett's dogs have been utilized as service dogs in Drug Detection, Civil and Criminal Searches, Crowd Control, and Cadaver Search.
Ms. Follett developed a "Basic Flockguard Instinct Test", and developed and implemented a successful "Flockguardian Sheep Acclimation Program" for redirecting rescued livestock guardians from guarding a family, to guarding a flock of sheep.
Ms. Follett’s ongoing study of breed genetics and her work in identifying the heritability of traits specific to the Caucasian has already impacted the breed and will continue to benefit the breed for generations to come.
