Podiatry is a subset of the allopathic medical system (MD's). Insofar as the podiatric physician is a highly trained specialist of the foot and lower extremity within the realm of modern medicine. The podiatry profession lacks a network that interconnects available resources from the practitioner to the patient, as well as from physician to physician and vice versa. A helpful guide can make all the difference in navigating the minefield of the health care marketplace. The graduates of podiatric colleges are required a 4 year undergraduate education, and graduate podiatry school is a 4 year curriculum. Most podiatrists complete further residency surgical training of 2 to 4 years in hospitals alongside osteopathic (DO's) and allopathic physicians (MD's), making this a super-specialty of modern American medicine. The profession is also regulated by federal and state agencies as well as peer-driven specialty boards, councils and podiatry national organizations: (ABPS, APMA, ACFAOM, ACFAS, CPME, COTH, etc). However, in the current health care environment, the patient and the physician can both feel forlorn to the convoluted whimsical changes in insurance coverage, payer controlled physician panels, compulsory and burdensome treatment guidelines dictating the process, and how and which treatment you will receive and which ones you will not. I feel people, properly assisted in making decisions are empowered to choose correctly the most apropriate treatment best suited for them individually, be it surgery or palliative care, a combination, or alternative medicine. By assisting you with unbiased advice about the disease or foot leg condition, I can help you to educate yourself on what really works and doesn't about the disease process(es) of a myriad of foot and leg conditions. What you may expect about recommendations or current treatments you are already receiving, and whether to continue on the path set forth, or change to alternate treatment if indicated or not improving.
