The major focus of my research is to understand how normal memory works and to also understand what happens to memory when it is impaired. Our perspective is neurochemical and neuropharmacological where we attempt to identify molecular signaling pathways and pharmacological mechanisms that could be targeted with promising therapeutics. Given this focus, much of our work is centered on biological processes involving calcium regulation and neuronal excitability since calcium and excitability thresholds play a large role not only in normal memory processing, but also in processes of brain injury and disease.

Over 6 years experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industrial sector. Over 5 years experience at the assistant professor level in academic settings. Dr. Albensi has over 80 published papers (peer-reviewed, chapters, abstracts, etc.)
