I've been personally interested in pharmacology since 1986, when I took a job as a pharmacy technician for a large inpatient hospital pharmacy. I've been studying pharmacology on my own in the years since, purely out of interest! Being disabled and out of work (in the ordinary sense) leaves me with a lot of free time for self-study, and my disability has brought me into personal contact with quite a number of prescription drugs as well.
You may consider it either a positive or negative that I don't have a piece of paper with 'PhD' or 'PharmD' written on it, but one thing's for sure: If I don't know the answer to your question, finding it will be fun/enjoyable rather than a chore!
I also have a "harm reduction" attitude toward the recreational use of substances, and feel that related societal and legal matters should remain in that arena. I do not recommend or condone abuse, but if you have a question about using *any* chemical substance more safely/sanely, I would be happy to assist.

Experience & Qualifications
|
Former pharmacy technician, medical family background (i.e. lots of relatives who are medical professionals), strong/lasting personal interest in the subject, personal experience with a number of prescription drugs.
Areas of particular interest/expertise include psychiatric meds in general, analgesics (painkillers), beta blockers and other cardiac drugs, psychostimulants, sedative/hypnotics, hallucinogens, amino acids and herbal/ethnobotanical remedies. I am fascinated by the effects of substances that boost or inhibit the reuptake of CNS neurotransmitters.
Areas I may not be adept in (i.e. where I may have to research more to help you) include antihyperlipidemics (cholesterol lowering medications), cancer/AIDS treatments, hormones/contraceptives and surgical meds.
