My Expert Service

I am a retired journalist, with more than 40 years of experience as a reporter (Associated Press, Chicago Defender), columnist (Chicago Defender), and magazine editor (Jet magazine). I'm also an author (Only the Strong Survive: Memoirs of a Soul Survivor [Indiana University Press, 2000]). If you need an editor or writing coach, I am your man. If you just need someone to look over your stuff and give you some constructive feedback, I'm that guy too.

Experience & Qualifications

In addition to being a reporter and author, I taught journalism classes at Columbia College in Chicago during the 1980s. I later taught English and customer service courses at Taylor Business Institute while moonlighting as a writing tutor at Chicago State University. I am the founder, editor and publisher of Today's Traveler magazine. I retired from daily 9 to 5 working in 2004 to pursue my dream of reorienting the world's perception of African people. In the course of pursuing that dream, I founded the Order of Kush, an international honor society governed by a consortium of scholars devoted to the study of Africa. The Order of Kush now boasts a membership of more than 500 scholars. An offshoot of Order of Kush is Museum Africa, a virtual museum-libary complex destined to become a bona fide brick and mortar museum located in Chicago. Museum Africa, which expects to house the world's largest collection of primary source documents and artifacts from African scholars and ancient African civilizations, currently has a team of experts researching aspects of different African cultures. These experts include anthropologists, historians, sociologists and archaeologists, and span all racial groups. The Order of Kush also is developing its own internet media group, the Sons and Daughters of Africa Network, to report on current events in the African world.
