The special education process can be very confusing and intimidating with education personnel telling you what your child needs regarding his/her education and you feeling left out of the process. I have many years of experience working within the world of special education as a school psychologist. I have worked with all age groups from preschool to high school. My hope is to make YOU part of the process so that when you are at an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meeting you can feel confident in being your child's best advocate to ensure an appropriate education that you clearly understand. As a parent you have many rights when it comes to your child's education and I want to make sure you know what those rights are so you can exercise them. I also want to make resources available to you so that you can deal with the great difficulty of finding out your child has ADHD, autism or any other disability that qualifies him/her for special education. I would like to use my experience and expertise across all the qualifying categories of special education to empower you.

Experience & Qualifications

Currently I am an Early Education Psychologist. I conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to determine if children qualify for preschool special education. I work with families and support them through this difficult process by making resources available and explaining every step of the process so they feel like they are a major part of making informed educational decisions about their child. I along with a team, determine educational diagnosis of disabilities including autism and ADHD. I have previously worked within an elementary school and high school executing psychological assessments as well as conducting individual and group counseling sessions. I have also worked as a Behavioral Specialist with emotionally disturbed middle school children. I am well versed in psychometrics and psychological tools that are used to assess your child. I facilitate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings and understand the legal component behind the special education process. I have strong interpersonal skills and am bilingual in Spanish.
