My Expert Service

I currently tutor a wide variety of students in one or more of the above languages. While the majority of my clients are high school or college students wishing to develop their language competencies, I also tutor adults who desire to review a foreign language, either for their own pleasure or in preparation for a business venture. I also provide lessons for youngsters in elementary school whose parents want them to acquire some language proficiency prior to taking formal courses in school. I tutor all levels, from beginning to advanced--with the exception of Japanese. (I offer only basic Japanese.)

Experience & Qualifications

After returning from a 2 year period of residency in France, I founded my own tutoring service, which I have steadily expanded over the years. Over the past 2 decades, I have had several hundred students, with a particular emphasis on the French language. However, of late, I have have an increasing number of clients who wish to learn Spanish. Given that the majority of my students are only available on weekends and evenings, I have simultaneously held a variety of professional positions over the years in such international organizations as the World Bank, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce/International Division, Nacel Cultural Exchanges, Mitsui USA and recently, Specialites d'Elegance (a french chocolate importer.) While continuing to maintain an active roster of clients in the language teaching field, I have also begun a part-time career in real estate, and as such, am developing an international clientele in the greater Washington, D.C. area. In this capacity, I have started to offer ESL to Embassy personnel and others who wish to improve their speaking/reading and writing abilities. I very much enjoy teaching others to understand and speak a foreign language. Because languages are meant to be SPOKEN, I focus heavily on correct pronunciation. My greatest joy comes from taking on a beginning student and seeing him/her acquire a proficiency in a language. I am able to do this in most cases, as many students continue to take lessons throughout their entire high school career. If you have questions as to the specific pedagogical tools I utilize, I will be happy to discuss these with you by phone.
