I am a chemical engineer and life scientist working at the interface between the physical and life sciences in a holistic sense with a view to enabling the development of future biorefineries. In doing this, I combine a variety of tools from molecular biology, analytical chemistry, microscopy, aquatic chemistry and bio-reaction/chemical/separation engineering. Examples of this include converting a variety of by-products into hydrocarbons, natural gas and nutrients; water, soil and sludge decontamination; and easing oil flow in deep underground oil reservoirs at extreme pressure and temperature levels.
