Experience & Qualifications |

20+ years experience making, designing and learning the art of blacksmithing. I started with a home-made forge built out of the cast iron tank from an old hot water heater and the anvil was a chunk of steel I-beam I found on the road! I've gotten a bit more sophisticated since then but there are times when I miss that old forge and anvil. I built birthday and christmas presents with them when I was 19 and 20 and I still have one piece from back then.
I work now with two anvils, a 110lb Peter Wright and a 90lb Acme (no, I'm not kidding)anvil I got from a friend in trade (along with LOTS of tools) for a 550 lb monster anvil I found at a yard sale.
But you don't need much to get started. Honestly, advice and guidance are the best tools you can get. And here you can get them. Trust me, I know what it's like to get started and being frustrated by what some of the books say is "a simple technique". And I can help.
I also have quite a bit of experience in the Art of Armoring. If you are starting out in the SCA or another re-enactment group and want to make your own armor, let me know and I can help.
