I am an RN, and although I am not active in the health field, I have taken what I learned through being a nurse into the business world: working under pressure, listening well, being organized and identifying patients' (clients) needs.

I have been a co-owner of a small printing, marketing and advertising agency in a rural area of Michigan for the past 10 years. A business partner and I created the marketing and advertising company in 1998 and worked in our homes for 3 years, before first moving into a storefront and then purchasing a printing business which provided the opportunity to become a full-service marketing company.
As business owners without the benefit of a business degree, my partner and I have had to learn from experience, which has been challenging and valuable. I have concrete, reality based experience with balancing work and family, dealing with employees, making payroll, maintaining adequte cash flow, working with financial institutions, marketing and branding, doing business in a rural area, and operating in a world of male-owned businesses.
I would like to help others learn from my experiences. My pain could be YOUR gain!

Experience & Qualifications

I have experience in all parts of small business entrepeneurship, since my business partner and I built our company from the ground up. I started out as a wife and mother of 3 boys with no knowledge of how to operate a business. The only advice I received was to obtain a "DBA" and a checking account, which I did.
Now we have grown to a corporation with 10 employees and several sub-contractors. Through 2008, our business grew by an average of 25% per year.
