Experience & Qualifications

Over the past 30 years, I've managed nonprofit organizations, built and sold a business to a multi-billion company, and served as a strategic and fund raising consultant to nonprofit organizations, including associations, healthcare organizations, and community service providers. My expertise includes three levels of experience: during the first, I learned the art of association management and lobbying while working for a number of healthcare associations, and then progressed to become executive director of a health and research science organization. During this period, I earned my law degree to improve my lobbying and government relations skills, and I built the association into a strong domestic and global force with over 100 corporate members that included Fortune 500 companies involved in biomedical and industrial research. During the second stage of my “learning”, I became a marketing and mergers consultant to businesses and did strategy work for nonprofits both in the US and Europe. From there, I teamed up with a colleague to build a fledgling organization that had virtually no revenue, and built the organization to $8 million through marketing, alliances and acquisitions. The third level of my experience is coming from nonprofit consulting, where I took my business marketing and financial skills to create a nonprofit consulting practice, which has generated nearly $10 million in grants and contracts for clients. My approach to nonprofit growth is both strategic and tactical, and works from the belief that growth and resource development starts with the chief executive and other senior managers, and radiates from there to the staff and clients of the organization. We will work together to develop a cohesive strategy, which can be a one or two-page document or a full-blown strategic growth plan. It’s your call.
