My Hours (unless otherwise posted)
Sun-Mon 10am-2pm PST
Tues-Sat 4pm-7pm PST
While I won’t do the work for you, I will work with you to quickly assess and identify the issue and what barriers are keeping you from being where you want to be. Collaboratively we will weigh your options and develop realistic next steps so that you have a clear plan to work with. You will be heard and fully listened to! You will be supported and called to action. You will be in a place of expanded possibilities and options to help you make the change you want to make.
I use several methods. For one-time interactions, I use the brief intervention model of Cognitive Coaching. For ongoing work, I schedule a formal intake and assesment so that we can explore your life, dreams, goals, struggles, and concerns. The method(s) I use will best support you with long-term life transitions and goals (Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motiviational Interviewing, Appreciative Inquiry, Performance and Executive Coaching, etc.). I will listen attentively without judgment while asking key questions to help you clarify your thoughts and desires.
Cognitive Coaching, what is it?
Definition
Cognitive coaching is based on the idea that metacognition–or being aware of one’s own thinking processes–fosters independence in learning. By providing personal insights into the learner’s own thinking processes, cognitive coaching builds flexible, confident problem-solving skills. Plus, it encourages self-efficacy and pride.
Basic Elements
Coaching involves the modeling of self-appraisal and the self-management of cognition by an expert. It also involves learner performance and reflection, internalizing, and generalizing.
Dialogue, both on the part of coach and client, is another prominent aspect of coaching. For example, in the scaffolded instruction technique, teachers and students take turns leading dialogues about texts, asking each other to predict, question, clarify, summarize, and self-appraise.
