I was very young when I learned assembler, 13, and I got my computer infected by a virus. It wrote itself into the Flash EPROM and was run even before DOS booted. Well, I created a boot disk that copied the Flash EPROM to a disk file and the first 640K of memory was also copied to that disk. I decompiled it with debug and found how it worked and cured it by creating another boot disk to wipe the virus from the Flash EPROM. Then there were a few infected system files I had on the hard drive (I used to always boot from a clean, write-protected floppy) and I replaced them with backups... and voila, it was gone! Except for the ONE disk with it and infected system files that only I can access because of deliberate FAT damage...
