· Work with a variety of content providers and departments to create Web content, and also originate content. Originated content to include things such as the company privacy policy, forms for submitting inquiries and surveys, site maps, site system requirements.
· Plan sites, program HTML, Javascript, Java, PHP, Perl, various other scripting languages as needed, and CGI. Update Oracle databases, review and correct HTML provided by others, upload pages onto the sites, and integrate multimedia assets and applications into the sites
· Administer the development, testing, and production Web environments, including FTP servers, ensuring appropriate backup and maintenance.
· Maintain appropriate source code archives for Internet development projects.
· Serve as primary liaison with hosting administrators at company technology center and external hosting center
· Develop, post, maintain, administer, and enforce Web standards for company, including standards governing the following areas:
- Supported platforms, browsers, and plug-ins
- Accessibility
- External links
- COPPA compliance
· Obtain domain names; monitor expiration and ensure renewal of all company-owned domain names.
· Develop and maintain a strategic plan for Internet presence, based on management priorities, policy directions, and goals.
· Assess new Internet standards, technologies and trends, and formulate strategies and plans for enhancing the sites.
· Develop and enforce policies to produce a consistent visual image on the site by promoting uniform fonts, formatting, icons, images, layout techniques, and modularization, including maintenance of template and image archives.
· Develop and enforce policies on appropriate browser coding technologies appropriate to the end-user audience.
· Determine appropriate compression techniques, resolutions, sizes, color maps, and depths to ensure that images are delivered to the viewer at sufficiently high speed and quality.
· Manage links and cross promotions with other sites, ensuring that links are up to date.
· Identify, verify, investigate, diagnose, and fix bugs and problems.
· Ensure that all webmaster mail receives timely responses (within 2 working days).
· Set up and administer Scott Foresman Web usage logs for all sites, capturing browser used, originating IP, user domain information, and referring link (if applicable).
· Analyze traffic statistics and report on a monthly basis relevant information about "who, what, & why" to enable company to profile and appropriately develop for its target Internet audience.
· Manage consultants retained for development and maintenance of company internet sites.
· Serve as company resource on general technical and strategic Internet issues.
