Experience & Qualifications

During the 10 years as a software developer, part of my responsibilities was to gather requirements from internal or external customers. In order to complete this task, I had to facilitate meetings to extract information/feedback from our customers. So, when I move to the position of business analyst, I already had the most of the skill set to perform business analysis. Over the last year, I was able to the set of tasks, knowledge, and techniques required to identify business needs and determine solutions to business problems. After analyzing the information, the solution may be adding features to the system, creating a new system/application or tool, process improvements, and/or organization change such as adding more responsibilities to a position. Either solution, I was responsible for documenting the solution process and/or requirements. During this time, the software development methodology was Agile Development. So, one of product development process we used was Scrum. An additional role I had was Scrum Master. As Scrum Master of one the teams, I had to represent management at Daily Scrum meetings. I had to listen to the team daily reports. I was responsible for ensuring that impediments were promptly removed and decisions are promptly made. Also, I had to work with upper management and colleagues to determine the goals for each sprint. This position allowed me to develop and improve skills that are need as business analyst such as focus and determination. Also, I had to take initiative in setting up meetings (as needed), constant communication between management and teams, driving others to complete their tasks, and when necessary assisting others in completing their tasks. In addition, I have been teaching Software and Web development classes at Wake Technical College for over 5 years. I assist with development of new classes and programs with Wake Technical College in their Continuing Education department. I have been offer web consulting services to local businesses and nonprofit organizations for over 6 years.
