Mr. Berry’s 40 years in the music business have cemented his reputation as one of the most knowledgeable music industry gurus in the Midwest. A highly respected producer, award-winning songwriter, guitarist, bassist and vocalist, Berry’s attention to detail in every aspect of a project and his refined production techniques have been honed from years of experience in and out of the studio. After years of playing around the country with some of the finest musicians to come out of the Kansas City area, including Oleta Adams and Ida McBeth, Berry set his sights on studio production with the formation of the successful jazz fusion group Max Groove, co-writing and co-producing 5 albums for the Jazztown and Optimism labels. “Midnight Rain” released in 1986 and “Maximum Groove” released in 1987 both reached the top 20 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz charts. Around this time, he produced a 250 song multi-genre karaoke library for Spotlight Studios. In 1989 Mr. Berry became studio and production manager for Jelleeworks Productions, where he produced hundreds of demos for songwriters from around the country. Upon leaving that position in January 1995, Berry opened Berry Music Group, a state-of-the-art recording studio, and started production on several projects for release on his record label, Enneagram Records. His publishing company, Max Berry Music, BMI, is one of the largest in the region, servicing an extensive catalog of several hundred songs. He now lends his creative talents to High Vibe, a unique blend of piano, harp and guitar, playing an eclectic mix of instrumental music, and he still performs regularly with Ida McBeth
