I am here to assist you in all aspects related to Biochemistry. Allow me to be another set of eyes that takes a look at the problem. I am passionate about helping others and teaching.
I offer the following services:

SPECIFICS OF THE SERVICE:
Reading my profile and accepting my help acknowledges you have read my profile and agree to the following terms.
1.) I will not do your homework for you. I am here to assist you and offer insight into working through problems as well as how to improve the quality of your lab reports.
2.) I am not a miracle worker. If I tutor you, this requires you to do work behind the scenes. We work together on this task.
3.) If you ask for insight into a lab protocol, I WILL NOT discuss it with another. I am not responsible if my protocol doesn't produce desired results. I will not ask for acknowledgment.
4.) I WILL NOT discuss our service. Everything we do is confidential.
5.) You will notify me if a service is not satisfactory. I am willing to work with you, but realize that what I do takes time. The more I know what you are looking for, the quicker I can assist you. If I am on the wrong path, please tell me as soon as possible so I can correct it.
6.) I will always respect you and ask for the same in return. I am blunt and to the point. However, I am not here to hurt you, I am here to help you. I find that sugar coating leaves too much room for interpretation which is why I am always direct.
7.) I will do my best to empower you but if I feel you are not putting forth your best effort, I will not hesitate to tell you. If you continue to only put forth a mild effort, I reserve the right to discontinue our arrangement.
8.) If you ask me to tutor you and this requires a text that I do not have or cannot locate, you must send me a scanned copy or online copy of the text book along with the course syllabus. If you are looking for general tutoring in preparation for graduate school or exams, we can work together to develop a program that works for both of us.

Experience & Qualifications
|
I am currently a graduate student in Biochemistry and have a degree in Chemistry (with Biochemistry emphasis). I have 10 years of lab experience as well as three years of teaching assistance experience. In May 2008, I received an Excellence in Teaching award from the Graduate School at Iowa State University. I have taught a variety of students and realize that not everyone learns by the same means.
My lab experience involves the following aspects:
*Protein purification, isolation and characterization
*Protemics: MS/MS, Mass-peptide fingerprinting, iTRAQ
*Molecular modeling
*Design of PCR primers and cloning and expression of recombinant proteins
*Design of peptides for vaccine and diagnostic candidates
*Methods of studying protein-protein and protein-peptide interactions
I also consider myself a technique junkie so I keep up to date on new techniques and try to incorporate them into my own research when possible.
