I am a practicing, certified and licensed school counselor with 8 years experience working with children of all ages. I specialize in working with families of children with behavioral issues/disorders and children with special needs. I am also very well versed in the NY State laws governing students with disabilities and IEP's. I can offer parents aide with behavioral issues at home, as well as at school. I can offer tools and techniques for both parents and children in helping to create a respectful and loving relationship, as well as a happy home enviornment. I can offer guidance with the steps in evaluating a child that may have special needs. I can clarify and aide parents in understanding their child's development and provide insight into a child's thought process. I can explain and aide parents in understanding their child's IEP and the services being offered. I can also inform parents of their rights regarding their child's education, whether it be general education or special education.

8 Years of School Counseling in the New York City Public School System. My experience includes providing weekly counseling sessions in groups and individually to students required to receive counseling services as per their Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). I also provide group and individual counseling to students who are at-risk based on a crisis situation, behavioral issues, emotional issues or attendance. I observe and recommend children for testing when there is a suspicion that a child requires special needs services and support.
