My name is Laurie and I have been a certified teacher for 17 years. I answer questions based on my knowledge and experience. I have worked with severely multiply impaired students, learning disabled, emotionally impaired, ADD/ADHD and autistic and am currently a regular education elementary school teacher. I have a master's in reading and am early childhood endorsed.
I am practical, compassionate, and straight forward. I don't want to waste anyone's time or money. If I don't think that I can help you or answer your question, I'll tell you. You may not like or agree with the suggestions or information that you are given. In those cases, I will always strive to be honest, ethical, and professional in all my dealings.

Experience & Qualifications

I have taught special education for 4 years in a categorical and resource room respectively. I have also co taught in regular education classrooms (1st and 2nd grades)as the special education teacher counterpart to keep special education student within their regular classrooms. I have taught 3rd grade for 13 years and have had numerous special education, ADD/ADHD, and ELL students come through my door.
I have worked in afterschool tutoring preparation programs for the state standardized test required by NCLB for 4 years. I have been a member of my school's Teacher Assistant's Team to help teachers help their students by providing strategies and suggestions.
I have run a summer program for multiply impaired participants ages 5 - 30 where community based/life skills field trips and activities were the main focus.
