Because of 35 years of experience working in the aerospace industry, I can answer or find the answers to questions that span much of what has occurred in the space program, both manned and unmanned, since the beginning of the space age. My experience involves not only individual analysis projects, but also management of teams that have addressed complex space hardware and software projects, and space operations. I continue to work in the field, and therefore am tied into what is coming in the future due to my ongoing work and contacts across the aerospace industry.

Experience & Qualifications

I worked for the NASA Manned Spacecraft Center (now the Johnson Space Center) on the 1st 2 manned moon landings in the Lunar Surface Operations Office. I then worked for the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory on space flight analysis and space flight operations - I was the Voyager Mission Navigation Team Leader (2 spacecraft that collectively flew by Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune and are now heading into interstellar space). I also worked in the Hughes Space & Communications Group (now Boeing Satellite Systems) in the advanced programs area that included projects associated with strategic and space defense. I currently work at another aerospace company that specializes in developing low cost access to (i.e., low cost launch vehicles) and low cost operations in space. I have authored or co-authored approximately 15 technical papers and am the co-patent holder of 2 patents. Besides my in depth background in space related areas, I also have a commercial pilot rating and have flown multiple types of powered and unpowered aircraft. In terms of unique experiences, I have flown multiple times on NASA's zero gravity training aircraft, and I was 1 of the judges for the $10 million dollar Ansari X-Prize that was awarded to Scaled Composites for successfully reaching an altitude of 100 km with a manned vehicle 2 times within 2 weeks.
