My Expert Service

Raising a child with behavior problems is an extraordinarily taxing endeavor. The day-to-day challenges within your home environment are all-consuming. In addition, you must strive to become an expert on your child's needs, conveying information to those in your wider social circles - at school, at church, in the park, in the store, and in your extended family. Using evidence-based practices developed by a consortium of six universities across the country, I can help you identify, implement, refine, and communicate strategies to positively impact your child's behavior. Regardless of your child's particular disability or level of functioning, positive behavior strategies can work because they are based on proven practices individually tailored to your child's behavior and environment. In the face of what can be daunting opposition - or outright hostility - you may be looking for affirmation that you are on the right track as you champion your son or daughter and try to get professionals to work with you. You may not be sure about how to proceed with developing a behavioral plan for your child, and are looking for resources. Or, you may be seeking modifications to a plan that is no longer working because your child is growing up, or because environmental changes have created new demands. In my several decades of work providing educational and behavioral consulting, I have addressed a wide range of behaviors - from withdrawal to self-injury to overt aggression - with positive behavioral support. One of the most important markers of success for these children, youth, and young adults has been their inclusion in typical environments. Together, we can develop a plan to move your child closer to the lifestyle you envision for him or her.
