The USUI system of Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is, in its simplest translation, “universal life energy”. The 2,500 year old practice of Reiki is the art and science of being able to channel this universal life force energy to promote mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Reiki is a form of complementary, holistic medicine that activates the healing power of the hands. Originating in Japan in the early part of the last century, there are now an estimated million practitioners worldwide. Reiki’s effectiveness is demonstrated by its widening use in homes, businesses, and hospitals. Reiki works by nourishing the body’s ability to heal itself. Stress, trauma, and illness create blockages in the energy of the body, which prevent the body from healing itself. This can result in long term pain, impaired body function, low energy, and poor mood. Reiki releases these energy blocks and restores the energy within the body. Treatments promote a state of well-being, relaxation, regeneration, and renewed balance within the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual bodies. Reiki supports the body’s own innate intelligence and desire to heal.

I first got attuned to Reiki in 1997 and have been healing myself and others ever since. I participate in workshops and healing circles.
