When looking at nutrition and fitness and the mind-body connection, it is often easy to overlook the direct correlation to overall wellbeing. I am here to help you find that connection, and fix the missing components from these elements, that are preventing you from living your life to the fullest!
My interest in the wellness industry stems from pretty early on. I’ve always been very active, and conscious of the foods I put into my body, seeing that I wanted the best fuel for my performances. Starting at the age of 7, I began taking dance classes. I pursued the professional training route from the age of 11, and dabbled in other styles of dance until the age of 19. At this point, I had started my university studies in nutrition, and decided to drop the world of dance to focus on academics. I earned my degree in nutrition from Ryerson University in 2004. I felt like I needed to get back to the active component of my life, so it seemed fitting to explore the world of fitness and exercise by becoming a personal trainer. So I did just that! In 2005 I became certified as a personal trainer with Can Fit Pro. Since then, I have worked in several fitness clubs and with private clients as a nutritionist and personal trainer.
In 2006 I became a mom for the first time and wow did that throw me for a loop! Finding the time to exercise and eat right became very challenging (but not entirely impossible)! I am pleased to report that I was able to get back on track, losing the weight very gradually and naturally in the course of about a year post-birth. My personal training career was on hiatus a bit while I spent some time being a full time mom, but the process of learning and acquiring new information never stopped. I continued to upgrade my certification (which I am required to do each year), through various courses including: women’s issues in fitness, Pilates, anatomy, and holistic nutrition. Most recently, I’ve entered the wonderful world of yoga and have taken a preliminary certification course which I hope to continue with to become certified to teach as well.
Nutrition and Fitness are evolving fields, and I understand how confusing it can be when so much conflicting information exists out there. I am here to help you demystify this world so that you too can enjoy a healthier life.
With you in health and wellness,
Sylvie
