Experience & Qualifications
|
|
After qualifying in 1988, I completed internship and training positions in various specialties in the hospital service, including general medicine, general surgery, care of the elderly, dermatology, cardiology, acute poisoning, oncology, psychiatry, accident and emergency, and obstetrics and gynaecology. I spent a year working under intense supervision in general practice, or primary care, before gaining my certificate in vocational training. I worked from 1996 to 2006 as a partner in a very busy and challenging, multicultural inner city 5-partner practice in urban England. I participated in the training and facilitation of other primary care practitioners, medical students and nurse practitioners. In 2006 I moved with my family to Jamaica and took up a post with the Jamaican government as a district medical officer in St Ann. I provide clinical medical services to the local population.
