My Expert Service
|
Coaching is not just about
concentrating on one particular area, but is about finding balance in all areas.
ADHD coaching is quite different to normal coaching. This is because of
other issues that can make the lives of the client more difficult than the rest
of the population. However, if you suffer any of the problems below, I can help
you uncover strategies to support you, help you find an inner strength you feel
you may have lost and a confidence in the future.
I can assist with:
-
Strategies for managing short-term memory problems -
Workplace strategies to compensate for difficulties within the work environment
-
Motivation & stepping outside your comfort zone
-
Help you to come up with effective solutions to problem areas
-
Use of self-talk to guide actions
-
Ways to manage family
-
Relationship rebuilding (as often ADDults have to repair damaged relationships due to ADHD traits. eg. appearing selfish, when it may be a matter of feeling uncomfortable with a situation and being 'stuck', unable to step outside their comfort zone.
-
Helping with increasing your self-confidence and recreating a new mindset to help you succeed in life.
You do not have to be ADHD to benefit from this method of coaching. This method of coaching is applicable to anyone needing understanding due to mental health issues such as anxiety, getting out of a rut & trying to discover ways to balance their life, especially if one area is taking over and impacting on family.
Having a coach, in these circumstances, who is understanding, empathetic, experienced & knowledgeable is important. They can truly identify with the struggles that sometimes invade the existence of the client. However, the coach must also know when to suggest that the client sees their specialist.
Coaches do not tell you what you have to do, but help you to come up with the solution. Coaching is not treatment but self help.

Specialising in adults & teens with neurological differences, Fibromyalgia, ABIs (Acquired Brain Injuries) & learning disabilities.
Life Skills Facilitator Training 2006.
Specialising in teens with learning disabilties, emotional incompetencies & challenging behaviours.
In Australia my articles have been published by the Australian Secondary Principals' Association
& also the Australian Primary Principals' Association. Globally, you
can find my articles in different languages.
Since 2001 I have run ADDventurous Women,
an on-line support group for women who live with ADHD in their lives, whether it be themselves, a spouse or a child.
My clients vary from IT professionals to housewives, athletes struggling in their personal lives & people with acquired brain injuries trying to get back on track. They often feel ‘stuck’, finding difficulty in motivating themselves and often have low self-esteem and
suffer self doubt.
In the past, I have co-ordinated holistic efforts to help ‘at-risk’ students, their parents/caregivers and teachers.
This has involved coaching, Edu-feedback, shadowing within school time, teacher support, parental education, nutrition, tutoring and advocacy. It also included liaising with doctors, psychologists, counsellors & remedial/intervention education groups.
Currently I am editing the text to a life skills picturebook for 4 to 7 year olds,
editing a life skills manual for ADHD and Aspergers Syndrome children written by a specialist psychologist in the U.K. & am also developing the workbook to go with the manual.
