My Expert Service

Professional, competent, compassionate counseling related to Women's Mental Health issues. Education, training and experience used to help clients to better resolve issues in their life, with honesty and integrity. I have specialized in all aspects of domestic violence - spouse abuse, child abuse, child neglect, sexual assault, rape, intimate partner violence, verbal/emotional/psychological abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse - doing initial assessments on both perpetrators of domestic violence as well as victims of domestic violence, referral to victim advocate services as indicated, individual and group therapy. Similarly, I have specialized in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. Referral to a psychiatrist for medication therapy is generally indicated. Individual therapy often inolves prolonged exposure therapy, identification of triggers, learning how to keep avoidable triggers out of one's life, psychoeducation about PTSD, either in group therapy or individually. Management of depressive symptomatology, symptoms of anxiety, teaching anger management through cognitive therapy, working on systematic desensitization if indicated and generally, bringing the mind back to the present and future rather than being preoccupied in past trauma. Body image issues and eating disorders are treated with congitive therapy, identifying "cognitive disorders", challenging them and replacing them with healthier, more realistic and positive self talk. A lot of this work has to do with identification of personal strengths outside of one's physical appearance. Identification of "new" strengths will have an accompanying effect of increasing self esteem. Depression, stress and anxiety management are also core aspects of treatment.

Experience & Qualifications

I've worked as a therapist in mental health clinic settings, family service agencies, hospitals and counseling centers. I have specialized in Spouse Abuse, Child Abuse, Child Neglect, Incest, Rape, Intimate Partner Violence, Physical Abuse, Verbal/Emotional/Psychological Abuse, Marital Rape and Sexual Abuse. Generally well versed in all areas of Domestic Violence. Have worked with both perpetrators and victims. Have worked with both civilian populationa dn military population. Have also specialized in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in Women. This unfortunately is often a consequence of childhood abuse. The childhood abuse could be any combination of verbal/emotional/psychological abuse, physical abuse and sexual abuse.

He was very thoughtful in his responses, and provided advice in good faith. He also encouraged me to stop the session ASAP, so I would not continue being charged, for repeating his advice to me; very ethical and kind. Thank you!
