My Expert Service

I approach counseling in a personal yet up-front style using an integrated approach of evidence-based techniques shaped by a Humanistic-Existential view of mankind to help people succeed in life using their own definiton of success. I help people identify their STRENGTHS in pursuing what we all share as our "OUR JOURNEY THROUGH LIFE". Without good mental and emotional health, we are limited in our capacity to truly experience life personally or professionally. When we think about or have already set goals for ourselves, whatever they may be, we must have the positive mental health to have the energy to pursue and reach those goals. I teach you how your thoughts effect your feelings which in turn effect your behavior and the consequences of that on your life. By learning how to take control of your thoughts, you ultimately will have more contol over your life.

Experience & Qualifications

I have more than 25 years of professional counseling experience working in a variety of settings including as an In-Home Family Therapist with children, adolescents, and adults; focusing on At-Risk teenagers as both an Educator and a Counselor. This has been my most satisfying relationship with clients as the in-home enviroment allows the professional to get a true and full picture of the individual and family dynamics in order to better serve the family system. Furthermore, I have taught both regular and special education in the public and non-public school settings as well as abroad in La Paz, Bolivia. My professional counseling experience also includes the school setting, adult residential care, and in-patient adult behavioral health hospitalization in a major hospital system. I have experience as a Clinical Program Manager of a Non-Profit Program and have been a Clinical Supervisor of a Community Based Agency. I have also been the sole-enterpreneur of my own clinical private practice servicing children, adolescents, adults, couples and families in western NC. I am an objective, trained, yet compassionate listener who believes that whatever matters to you is worth discussing. I can be the vehicle to your finding your own solutions to whatever stumbling blocks are in the way of finding your serenity and the actualization of your aspirations for yourself. Sometimes we need to get out of our own way to find it.
