I studied psychology and teaching in the hopes of learning the secret to unlocking human potential to thrive emotionally and intellectually and to becoming happy, contented and balanced individuals. This was a valuable and enriching way to start my career. However, by far, my biggest teachers are my own children and life in general. Through their struggles and my own my theoretical knowledge became practical and because of our looking for answers, I have learnt much. About learning disabilities but about also about the capacity of the human spirit to triumph over adversity and to blossom into something awesome to behold. I hope that what I have learnt practically as well as theoretically and spiritually will be of assistance to you.

Experience & Qualifications

I have taught in Nurseries in two different countries. I was a learning support assistant to a little girl experiencing barriers to learning in an inclusive educational setting. My own children have experienced barriers to learning. The eldest is also gifted and has, after really struggling in Key stage 1 and part of Key stage 2, exceeded all expectations and is now an academic force to be reckoned with. As such I understand the frustration of the parent, seen and felt the frustration of the child and learnt how to counteract those. Most recently I have been, and continue to be, involved in Teaching Children Memory Strategies and effective study skills, attitudes, Time management, how to prepare for an exam etc.
Apart from this, I have a been counseling people in one way or another all my life. My Studies followed a natural interest in and love of people in general and children in particular. My academic background is only part of the story. I know what it means to feel as if you don't have control of your life or no say in what happens to you. I also know that regaining your voice is possible and necessary. If you are struggling with Depression, feelings of worthlessness or is caught in an abusive relationship, I will be able to help you from an experiential point of view but also theoretical. If you need help and healing in any form I will be willing to listen - at the very least.
