I am a single mother to two boys born 18 months apart. With two very different personalities, it can be sometimes difficult to keep the peace. My oldest can be very shy and quiet. He thinks things through before jumping into an activity. My youngest, on the other hand, is a dare devil and will jump first, worry about the consequences later. He's loud and demands a lot of attention from the people around him. Knowing the unique personalities of my children has helped considerably in communication and discipline. With my oldest, him knowing that his bad behavior will disappoint myself or his father is enough to get him in line. My youngest requires a more concrete response to his bad behavior.
