Don't have surgery before we talk. Many orthopedic surgical procedures are necessary. But many aren't and can be harmful in the long run. Let's make sure you've considered the nonsurgical alternatives, whether mainstream or complementary, that can help your body heal naturally, without scars, anesthesia, or permanent damage.

Experience & Qualifications
Residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. 14 years of experience providing nonsurgical diagnosis and management for people with back or neck pain, arthritis, joint pain, sports injuries, occupational injuries, etc. In my own practice I use all the usual diagnostic tools, and a much more refined history and physical exam to understand the root cause of the problem. Frequently, other docs neglect to see that everything is connected to everything else, and overlook the 'systems' issues. As appropriate, I use the full range of biomedical treatments, including prescribing and supervising physical and occupational therapy. When appropriate we incorporate complementary approaches like osteopathy, craniosacral, acupuncture, mindbody medicine, EFT, meditation, counseling, nutritional medicine, etc. I refer to surgeons when necessary. But they're surgeons and often don't know the effective alternatives to surgery. Some complementary approaches can heal the "unfixable" problems. Let's talk about it before they cut.
