Although I am over 50, I have been playing MMORPG's and other online games for fun, and on a paid research basis, for over 12 years. I have been a long-time participant in research projects specifically designed to study the habits, motivations, and personal experiences of people who play and sometimes experience real addiction to these online roleplaying games. I have often been called on to assist addicted players who are unable to find an appropriate balance between their fantasy virtual world and their real world.
