My Expert Service
|
|
I began as a piece worker, which provides great drive to do a lot of work, but with the utmost attention to detail as you had to repair any errors yourself. This progressed into trouble-shooting and supervising all sub-contractors. I finished my first supervision of an apartment complex in Roswell, GA when I was 21. It was 16 buildings with 365 units and it took 18 months. I received a bonus of $10,000 at the end of this project and I wasn't even licensed. I continued with apartments but started overseeing entire areas. At one point I was doing 4 apt. projects, 1 assisted living and 2 hotel projects in Charlotte, NC. When I finished I decided to move home to Asheville, NC and got my Masters license on my first try. I was a technician for 2 years before going into business for myself and I have been doing that since. I started doing electrical when I was 18 and I am 37 now, and I can't foresee doing anything else in my life. I have always believed that quality and good ethics are the reason I have never had any safety issues with any of the work or jobs I have ever done. Because of the dangers involved and the lives I feel depend on my work standards, I haved learned a safety conciousness that far exceeds what any classroom would or could have taught. I would not change any single thing about the way I have learned my trade and believe that all electricians should have to spend at least 4 years in the field before being allowed to become a Master of it.
