My Expert Service
|
I began working with abused and abandoned horses as a teenager, and spent my college years volunteering at a shelter for homeless dogs and cats. I've worked with hundreds of dogs on basic unwanted behaviors (marking, chewing, eliminating inside, etc.), and with others with more serious problems (separation anxiety, aggressiveness, excessive fear, and so on).
Before you consider giving away or abandoning your pet because of his or her behavioral issues, ask yourself if you are willing to make the adjustments necessary to keep him or her. If you're willing to change your own behavior and take the time necessary to provide consistent positive reinforcement, you WILL see a big change in your dog! There is no such thing as a "bad" dog, but every pet/owner relationship is a work in progress!
Remember that your first response to any abrupt changes in your pet's behavior should be a trip to the vet!
