Research Experience:
For the last ten months, I have been working as an internet searcher for a virtual company. I search, summarize and deliver business information on different aspects of a number of industries, such as subcontracting for energy industry, industry benchmarks, outsourcing for supply chain, trends in cosmetics industry, network operating cost in IT industry, and much more. I have successfully completed hundreds of tasks with my co-workers.
Fieldwork has been my forte. Desire to collect the first hand information has always compelled me to explore primary and secondary sources during the academic life. The project work was an integral part of curriculum at college and university levels. I have undertaken fieldwork and market research to find the most relevant and the latest facts and figures in Geography and Tourism.
Writing Experience:
For the last two years, I have been writing company profiles on the basis of information provided, such as, press releases, company manuals and so forth. The emphasis is on complete product line, competition, current market trends, growth strategies, product development, product launch and sales analysis. I have created profiles for the companies of different industries, viz. biotech, computer and related accessories, electronics, scientific instruments, etc. The dot com for which I write the profiles, is engaged in industry and market research. The company serves national and international clients. All the information comes in txt files via internet in my FTP account. After completing the profile, I place .doc file(s) in the account.
Recently, I have successfully compiled and written a mini travel guide on Chennai for the UK based travel association. For the assignment, I specially visited the city to gather first hand and the latest information. The guide is divided into eight parts, viz. introduction, see and do, accommodation, transport, food and drink, entertainment, shopping and useful information.
I have contributed a few articles on different subjects to the national newspapers. I have researched and compiled material for a TV serial on anecdotes from renowned scientists' lives. Besides, I have compiled and written a booklet titled, "Mumbai Itinerary Planner". The writing works were completed after thorough online and offline search.
Travelling Experience:
I have extensively traveled across India especially Goa, Maharatsra, Kerala, Uttaranchal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and much more for education / pleasure. I have trekked the Indian Himalayas especially Garhwal, and Himachal Himalayas. I have completed basic and advanced courses in Mountaineering from Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering, Jammu and Kashmir and Himalayan Institute Mountaineering, Darjeeling respectively. Besides, I have participated in basic skiing course at Auli. I was team member of two mountaineering expeditions to Indian Himalayas, viz. Nanda Khat, Garhwal Himalayas and Menthosa (Lahual Spiti region). I have also trekked a few places in Indian Ghats. Occasionally, I have attended rock-climbing camps too.
Other Experience:
For eight months, I had created mind maps for computer and management textbooks of USA and UK for a web site. The web site is designed to help students in revision. I have also designed a geometry question group for an educational web site.
For about two years, I had worked as data processing vendor with a knowledge management company. The major tasks performed by me included SGML tagging, comparing and quality checking.
Computer Knowledge:
I have working knowledge of DOS, Windows 95, Internet, MS Word, MS Excel, C, C++, HTML, FoxPro and Ygnius.
