As defined by Wikipedia, a TCK "refers to someone who [as a child] has spent a significant period of time in one or more culture(s) other than his or her own, thus integrating elements of those cultures and their own birth culture, into a third culture."
Third Culture Kids, expatriates, global nomads, they all have more in common with each other regardless of nationality than they do with non-TCKs of their native culture.
A surprisingly large subset of people, TCKs cross all international boundaries and comes from all walks of life. Shipped abroad with their families while young, they could be children of missionaries, diplomats, business people, or military personnel, to name just a few. Their stay in any given country is often brief, necessitating the speedy building of friendships and adaptation to their host culture.
If you have questions about being a TCK, or are a TCK yourself and would like to chat about shared experiences, do not hesitate to contact me.
