My Expert Service
Substance abuse is often an outgrowth of the inability to cope with feelings and a lack of social skills and conflict resolution skills. These difficulties lead the person to turn to various substances to alleviate their pain and discomfort.
My Individual Psychotherapy practice is based upon my belief that every person is unique and therefore, my approach is always individualized. The focus is directed toward developing the most effective ways to address each person's areas of difficulty and lack of tools to help them control their use of substances. People often turn to substances when depressed and this is sometimes a major focus of the treatment. Exploring circumstances, past and present, that could be interfering with the achievement of these goals.

Experience & Qualifications
I worked in various psychiatric hospitals and community facilities for over 10 years. For the past 15 years, I have been in full time private practice. Many of my patients have had difficulties with their use of substances and/or difficulties following the necessary constraints that lead to recovery.
I have also worked extensively with ACOAs and others whose lives are seriously impacted by being closely involved with someone who is having trouble controlling their substance use.
